We pick up our bikes at the service point in Prague 6, just a few steps from the entry to the Divoká Šárka nature reserve, the oldest one in Prague (since 1964). From here, we drive through the gorge along a creek meandering eastward towards the Moldau river.
The gorge is named after a legendary female warrior Šárka from Czech mythology. The scenery sometimes reminds the gorges of southern France, Spain or the Southwest of the US. The tour takes us through the Šarka valley to the town of Roztoky north of Prague, from there through the “Silent Valley” (tiché údolí) to the village of Únětice with its famous brewery, where we stop for a drink and some typical dish before heading back to Prague again.
Divoká Šárka
This is where our tour starts. Hard to believe, this site is less then 30 minutes by public transport from the very center of the city.
