Cycling from Prague to Dresden

riverside tours: ELBE BIKE ROUTE

A Trail of Two Cities

Cycling from Prague to Dresden is one of the most rewarding, yet physoically less demanding bike trips to enjoy in Central Europe. You’re mostly following the rivers (Vltava and Elbe), have very few climbs, pass beautiful landscapes and discover picturesque old towns breathing with stories from the past.

Alone or in small groups you can make it to Dresden in four days of relaxed cycling (5-6 hours per day). If you want to spend more time at one place or take a day off for hiking in the National Parks of Bohemian / Saxon Switzerland, you should plan on a full week.

We offer this as a self guided bike tour with various levels of support. Of course, you need to be a regular cyclist to manage daily stages of 60km on average. Too, somebody in your group should be able to fix minor issues like punctures with the provided repair kit.

For inspiration, bike friendly recommendations and up-to date info please visit the website of the organisation promoting the “Elbe Cycle Route”.

Veltrusy Mansion between Prague and Melnik. The baroque castle was used as a set in Milos Forman’s award winning “Amadeus”. You’ll pass it on the first day of the bike tour to Dresden.

For a quote, please follow this formula: “(number of days x daily rental) + 33 Eur.

Premium plans

In addition to the services offered in the “standard” package, our premiums cover daily luggage transfer from hotel to hotel, passenger transfers, guided city tours in Prague and Dresden, depending on your requirements.

The premium plan is most convenient for groups of five and more persons due to the shared transfer costs (EUR 65 per day luggage service).

Example: for a group of five, the price per person is Czk 4.800 (EUR 190) for a bike trip of up to 5 days.

Words from Our Clients

Testimonials

Read what some of our customers left on TripAdvisor about their experiences with the Dresden tour.

We rented three great bikes, well equipped and maintained, at a very reasonable price, considering that the bikes had to be brought back to Prague afterwards. For five days and more than 250 kilometres we had not a single issue with the bikes. Highly recommened!

In an age where everything is measured by show and presentation and marketing and spin, we forget to put a value on service. George and his team put service first. From our first email to our final goodbye wave, my wife and I had a tremendous experience renting our bikes from Transphere bikes.

Brilliant experience renting bikes from George and Transphere to cycle the Elbe Radweg to Dresden. The process of renting and returning the bikes was very easy and the cycle route itself is stunning – highly recommended!
